FAQs
What can I expect during sessions?
In the first session, Grace will spend time to get to know you and understand your concerns. Together, you’ll collaborate to develop a personalised treatment plan that meets your specific needs.
In following sessions, Grace will begin to address your areas of concern, drawing upon a variety of evidence-based modalities that are best suited to your unique situation.
Do I need a referral to attend sessions?
You do not need a referral to attend sessions.
Referrals are accepted from General Practitioners (GPs), paediatricians, psychiatrists, school counsellors and other allied health professionals.
How much does it cost?
Please contact Grace Pope Psychology for information regarding fees.
Fees are payable at the end of each session by debit or credit card (Visa/MasterCard only).
Can I claim sessions through Medicare?
Sessions may be subsidised by Medicare. To check if you are eligible for a Mental Health Treatment Plan (MHTP), you can schedule a consultation with your GP, paediatrician or psychiatrist before your first session.
The Better Access initiative entitles you to receive a Medicare rebate of $141.85 per session, with a maximum of 10 sessions per calendar year. This rebate amount increases once the Medicare Safety Net has been reached.
A copy of your valid referral letter and MHTP is required prior to your first session in order to process your Medicare rebate. You will need to get your MHTP reviewed by your referrer and obtain another referral letter after your initial 6 sessions.
Can I claim sessions through Private Health Insurance?
Private Health Insurance may offer a partial rebate for your sessions. You do not need a referral from your GP to qualify. To determine whether your policy includes psychological services extras cover, please check with your insurer prior to your first session. Grace Pope Psychology does not process private health insurance rebates but can provide a copy of your paid invoice. Private health insurance cover can be used in addition to Medicare rebates however, the two cannot be claimed together for the same session.
How do I book a telehealth session?
If you would like to book a telehealth session, please inform Grace Pope Psychology when scheduling your appointment. You will be provided with a link to join online using a computer, iPad, or phone. The sessions will not be recorded and will abide by the privacy and confidentiality regulations outlined in the consent form.
If you have a referral from your GP, you do not need to get a new one to access therapy via telehealth. Most private health insurers offer rebates for telehealth sessions. It is recommended that you contact your insurer if you plan to claim these benefits.
What if I cancel or reschedule an appointment?
It is important that you contact Grace Pope Psychology as soon as possible if you need to cancel or reschedule an appointment. Cancellation with 24-48 hours notice will incur a 50% fee. Failure to give notice or cancel within 24 hours will result in the full fee becoming due and payable. Please note that you cannot claim cancellation fees through Medicare or Private Health Insurance.
